‘Around the Greens’, July 1st, 2026

We Won!

On a very sunny and hot Saturday July 11th a highly contested mixed and women’s open triples tournament was held at OLBC. 14 great teams from Burlington, Port Credit, Agincourt and Oakville participated in a very enjoyable event. There were many memorable shots made and near misses that decided the outcome of some very competitive and close games. Thanks to Ian Howard for once again sponsoring this event in memory of his parents Newton and Olive Howard who were renowned international bowlers.

Congratulations to our team from Oakville – Patricia Warren, Lonnie Bewick and Ron Bonne – who won the tournament!

Thanks to all our volunteers in the Kitchen for providing the delicious food, our greens keeping crew for their hard work and to many who helped in setting up the rinks. Kudos to our tournament Convenor Suzette Chen and to William Van Zwol who helped with the scoring.

Cash prizes were handed out to the following winning teams:

Tournament winners – Patricia Warren, Lonnie Bewick and Ron Bonne (Oakville).
2nd place (also 3 wins) – Marion Brunton, Ernie Gersok and Debbie McCourt (Burlington)
3rd place (2 wins) – David De Foe (Burlington), Ian Howard and Catherine Eve (Oakville)
4th place (2 wins) – Ricky Lau, Raymond Tsang and Helena Ho (Agincourt)
High in last game – Kong Chen, John Clark and Marva Taylor

Aussie Aussie Aussie!

A fun evening was enjoyed by everyone at our Aussie Pairs night on Friday, July 10. After our games we enjoyed pizza, followed by presentation of prizes. Our winners were:

2nd: Bill Stone and Kim Cody
3rd: John Stang and Ginny Carley
4th: Peyton Chow and Pam Danis

Happy Canada Day!

We’re grateful to everyone who joined us for our Canada Day celebration—even if the scorching heat kept us off the greens! While we couldn’t bowl, we still had a wonderful morning, made even more special by Liz MacIntyre and Patricia Warren, who generously treated us to fresh strawberries and homemade cookies. An extra heartfelt thanks to Stephen Walters for setting the perfect patriotic tone with a beautiful rendition of our National Anthem on the bagpipes.

Our Food Drive was also a tremendous success. Thanks to everyone’s generous donations, we collected a large box and three bags of food. A special shout-out to Patricia for suggesting we contribute our Jitney Toonies to the Food Bank tin—her idea paid off, and we raised an impressive $77.00 in cash.

Ladies District Triples!

Last week our club hosted their second Ladies District Triples Tournament. The event was well attended with 10 teams from Oakville, Burlington, Milton and Port Credit. The weather made for a perfect day of bowling. Oakville took 3 of the 5 winning spots. Congratulations Ladies!. Thanks to our Sponsor Viva Retirement and to Wendy and Ellen for organizing.

A Terrific Event!

Our club held its first Club Tournament on June 20th. It was well attended with 30 members taking part. We also had Cogeco Cable recording the games which will be shown on TV later in the summer. The weather was perfect and a great day was had by all. Thanks to our sponsor Amenida and to Ken Thacker and Suzette Chen for organising. Our winners were:

Second Place – Vincent Chen, Trish Hyland, Evelyn Hayward

A Night of Sixes!

Our Game of Sixes was held on Friday, June 12 with 48 participants. This event was sponsored by Delmanor.

Our First Open Tournament of 2026!

A recent Wednesday saw our first Open Tournament of the season, Mens, Womens or Mixed pairs. The event was well attended with 14 teams from Oakville, Burlington, James Gardens, Georgetown, Heritage Greens and Port Credit.

The weather was a little hot and humid but no rain.

Thanks to Suzette and Kong for organising and to Wendy and her kitchen staff for keeping us well fed. Many thanks to Venvi Churchill Place for providing the lunch.

The winners were:

First place, three game winners – Pat Binnie and Ian Howard
Second place, two game high – Ryan Bonne and Ron Bonne
Third place, two game high – Marion Brunton and Liz Blunt
Fourth place, high in last game – Milos Blecha and Clarke Slemon
